Survey Trigger
The trigger determines when a survey is displayed to the visitor.
Available Triggers
| Trigger | Description | When |
|---|---|---|
| manual | Manually triggered | Via API or admin action |
| conversation_closed | After chat end | When a conversation is closed |
| page_visit | On page visit | When the visitor visits a specific page |
| after_turns | After X messages | After a certain number of chat messages |
conversation_closed
The most common trigger — shows the survey immediately after the chat is closed.
Configuration:
- Trigger-Event:
conversation_closed - Trigger-Value: empty (no additional configuration needed)
Process:
- Agent closes the conversation
- Widget displays the survey in the chat window
- Visitor fills out and submits
page_visit
Displays the survey on a specific page.
Configuration:
- Trigger-Event:
page_visit - Trigger-Value: URL pattern (e.g.,
/checkout/successor/pricing)
Use Case: Post-purchase surveys, feedback on specific pages.
after_turns
Displays the survey after a certain number of messages in the chat.
Configuration:
- Trigger-Event:
after_turns - Trigger-Value: number (e.g.,
5)
Use Case: Mid-chat feedback, "How do you find the support so far?"
manual
The survey is not displayed automatically, but only triggered via the API.
Use Case: In combination with your own frontend, A/B tests, specific user groups.
Widget Targeting
Optionally, surveys can be restricted to a specific widget:
- No Widget (empty): Survey applies to all widgets
- Widget-ID: Survey applies only to this widget
This is useful if you want to use different surveys for the support widget and the sales widget.
Multiple Active Surveys
Multiple surveys can be active at the same time. The widget queries the available surveys at the appropriate event and displays the first matching one.
Tip: Avoid too many simultaneous surveys — this can overwhelm visitors. One survey per trigger event is recommended.
