The onboarding checklist
Getting Started
After registration, a checklist guides you through the setup. It's a helper, not a blocker — the product works even if none of the points are checked off.
The Five Steps
| Step | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Create Widget | The chat window for your website. The only step without which nothing can happen. |
| Invite Team Members | Add colleagues. |
| Start First Conversation | Respond to a visitor in the live chat. |
| Set Up Knowledge Base | Articles from which the bot answers and that visitors can read themselves. |
| Configure Triggers | Rules by which the widget proactively addresses visitors. |
Create and Embed Widget
The first step only asks for a name — the appearance can be changed later. After that, the checklist shows the code snippet that belongs on the website.
The snippet contains your public key. It is not secret: it is in the source code of every page where the widget runs anyway. Who can use it? Only the domains you have released under Domains.
Skip
Skip ends the checklist without breaking anything. What you skip, you can catch up on later at the respective point:
- Widget → Widgets
- Team → Team
- Knowledge Base → Knowledge Base
- Triggers → Triggers
If the Checklist Doesn't Disappear
Completed steps are automatically checked off — the detection looks at the actual state, not a click. If a step remains open although it has been done, usually something is really still missing: a widget without domain release, an invitation that has not yet been accepted.
