Installing the desktop app for Windows

The desktop app brings the inbox, tickets, team chat, contacts, visitors, copilot and knowledge base to Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) as a program of its own. It works with your existing SilentChat account.

1. Download

You'll find the installer on the desktop app page under Download for Windows.

2. Install — and the Windows warning

Run the downloaded file. The app installs for your Windows account; you don't need admin rights. Shortcuts are placed on the desktop and in the Start menu.

On first launch, Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”. This is because the installer does not carry a digital signature yet — it is not a virus detection.

1. Click More info.
2. Check that the publisher, or the file properties, say Forge12 Interactive GmbH.
3. Choose Run anyway.

3. Sign in

Sign in with a code sent by email or with your password; if two-factor sign-in is set up, the app will ask for it.

Signing in with Google, Forge12 or SAML is not yet available in the desktop app. All sign-in methods are available in the browser.

4. Notifications

Windows announces new conversations and messages as notifications. In the app's notification settings you decide

• which events notify you (switched-off events appear neither in the bell nor in Windows),
• whether a sound plays,
• whether the message text appears in the notification — switch it off if others can see your screen.

Updates

The app checks for new versions and installs them itself. You don't need to download anything again.

For your IT

The app can also be deployed machine-wide via MSI and managed via group policy or Intune — updates, proxy, language, notifications, dictation and error log. Just get in touch.

Data protection

For your work, the app connects exclusively to SilentChat's servers in Germany. The installer and updates come from api.forge12.com, which is connected through Cloudflare's network; details are in the privacy policy.
