Quickstart: Set up chat widget

Follow these steps to go live in a few minutes.
Step 1: Create Widget
- Go to Settings → Widgets
- Click "Create Widget"
- Enter a name (e.g., "Homepage" or "Support")
- Configure the basic settings:
- Primary color: Matching your branding
- Position: Bottom right (default) or bottom left
- Welcome message: The text that greets visitors
- Language: German, English, etc.
Step 2: Add Domain
- In the widget details, go to the "Domains" tab
- Click "Add Domain"
- Enter your domain (e.g., www.example.com)
- Verify Domain: Add the displayed DNS TXT record
- Record type: TXT
- Name: _silentchat-verify
- Value: The displayed verification code
- Click "Verify" (DNS propagation can take up to 24h)
Step 3: Embed Snippet
- Click "Show Snippet" in the widget
- Copy the JavaScript code
- Add the code before the
</body>tag of your website:

For Single-Page Apps (React, Vue, Angular): The script can also be placed in the <head> — it initializes automatically.
Step 4: Test
- Open your website in a new browser tab
- The chat widget should appear at the bottom right (or left)
- Send a test message
- Switch back to the SilentChat Dashboard — the conversation appears in the inbox

Common Issues
Widget not appearing?
- Check if the domain is verified
- Check the browser console for errors
- Ensure no ad-blocker is blocking the script
Messages not coming through?
- Check if at least one agent is online
- Check the widget status (active/inactive)
