Translate widget text to additional languages
The widget speaks ten languages. For the built-in texts, you don't need to do anything — it recognizes the visitor's language and responds accordingly.
Why custom texts only appear in one language
As soon as you enter your own texts (greeting, button labels, line above the name), your formulation only applies to visitors of your base language. All others continue to receive the built-in text.
This is intentional: Presenting a French visitor with a German greeting would be worse than the neutral built-in version.
The translation run
In the widget editor under Translations, enter your own versions per language — or have them generated in one go by the AI.
- Open the Translations tab
- Select target languages
- Start the run
- Review the result and save
The translation is a suggestion, not an automation: Nothing goes live until you save. Already filled fields are not overwritten.
Availability and costs
The AI translation is available from the Starter plan and is charged against your AI quota. The run is short — there are only a few lines per language, not entire articles.
You can enter translations manually in any plan.
What does NOT run through this process
- Messages in an ongoing conversation — there is auto-translation for this, see the article Auto-Translation.
- Your knowledge content — the knowledge base is not translated.
